I kindve wrote about this spot in the last post. And I am far too lazy to change things. When the video is ready I will post it here! until then go back and read about Ed and Joscha here for the details here, and ummm, I guess I could say we had gourmet BBQ and add some more pics.

Wir beschließen noch einen Tag in Rumänien zu bleiben bevor wir die Donau nach Bulgarien überqueren. Auf dem Weg zum Zeltplatz stellt sich eine Brücke als Baustelle heraus. Nur eine paar Bretter führen über die Stahlträger. Also balancieren wir die Motorräder vorsichtig über die Brücke und schlagen unser Nachtlager an der Donau auf.

the camp ground that the dutch had sent us to had one small complication….surprise, surprise….the bridge that crossed the river was under construction….there were boards set up so that the workers could walk across the span and of coarse bicyclist could walk their bikes across….but motorcycles???? we got to the bridges with the intent on checking the plausibility….good riders on small bikes would have had no problem…drive up the ramp and continue on over and down the otherside….bikers who need their machines to get home and have them loaded with 40kilos of gear….lets just say that the mind has a strong will…..to strong…and yet we chose the bridge instead of driving the 30kms around to the bridge up stream!!!! and i wanted to go first so that i wouldn’t chicken out!!!! bad call….i started up the ramp way too slow and ….well…i fell off…and it’s on video…yeah patrick and sherri are geared up with computer and video…pretty coool…any way….the bike was fine…and i was fine…just feeing stupid because of the group of kids that had gathered to watch the foreigners do stupid stuff…...patrick took the next shot…unloaded all the stuff from his bike and….he made it…it was slow and careful…and felt great to have one bike over….easy enough to take the other three!!!!! he took sherri’s bike next….and then i unloaded mine and went for round two….not to make the same mistake twice i took a running start at the ramp….oh baby!!! i was on the bridge!!!
!!slow over the planks and down the other side!!!!3 of 4….joscha got his bike over…no problems and there we were at the camp site!!!

the dutch had made the campsite sound really good…free camping with access to a shower….unheard of…too good to be true and thats a fact….the shower apparently operated on a generator which was not running while we were there!!!...the camping was free!! and the site offered picnic tables…always a luxury….we got to slow the pace down a bit…took a long morning to get on the road and headed for the bulgarian border….

our first river crossing from bulgaria to romania was a rip off….or so we thought….this crossing cost 6euro each and was charged at the border crossing…. made our first crossing a bargain!!!!......

so i drop my bike!!!!!....it happens from time to time…the frequency has been less and less…i love my bike and have gotten good with the turning at slow speed….very little throws me any more…..except excessive speed….and glassy roads…..we had been in bulgaria for a short time…came to a small town and made some turns…nothing strange…our riding order was joscha at the lead, then sherri, i came in third and patrick rode last….we were riding pretty slow thru town…25-30km/hr and joscha and sherri rounded a 90 degree curve…i came into the curve and was pushing my handle bars down hard…thats when it broke loose and i hit the pavement…nothing happened to me…for some reason i wasn’t even shocked …something had popped in my head just before it happened….but too late…patrick couldn’t believe what he had seen…joscha said that he had broke loose also, but wasn’t pushing so hard so gain control…standing on the street we couldn’t believe how slick it was!!!!and it was dry, too dry!!!!!

this is so cool to have fellow travelers add a new dimension to this trip…..looking at sherri’s pictures reminds me of the plant burning…..throwing an entire plant on the fire to see if we could get high inhaling the smoke,...well why not…it wasn’t like it was in short supply….we had endless numbers of plants growing along the river!!!!!the bummer was we couldn’t dry it out to smoke a big joint….and it doesn’t burn to well wet…we tried that too…so we pretended to be DEA agents on the raid and burned an entire plant!!!! i must have gotten stoned because i forgot to write about it!!!!
