Bulgaria Continues To Astound

Bulgaria is becoming less and less of a transit country as we just keep staying for longer and longer. The roads are amazing, and I think this may be the best view from a gas station ever:

It was also to be Ed´s last night with us before venturing off to the land that no one talks of. Please Ed, write something, ANYTHING, from Macedonia. Even if it is to say that they do make you sign a confidentiality contract upon entry! (We have been searching and searching for info on the HUB and other biker places, and no one, NO ONE, seems to have anything to say about the country – for good or bad!).

youv’e seen them….the new roads built over old roads and part of the old road is off to the side…sometimes, like in colorado it was just a single lane wagon road….or, as in this case just an old mountain road that wasn’t wide enough anymore…the new road cut thru the mountain side and the old road was cut off from the new one….this left a nice flat spot for camping on and it was a beautiful view over looking the valley….this was the spot patrick, sherri and i chose as our last stop together…..bbq chicken and vegs…yummy….and cool weather for sleeping…even a bit of rain during the night….and sun in the morning for breakfast and packing….nice…...we had only to move a few boulders out of our way so we could get the bikes off the road…at first glance this seemed a bit of a hassle….but when you are faced with not having a place to sleep you can summon amazing amounts of energy…and so we set about pushing pulling and rolling these big boulders out of our way….wait for the video….

the time came that i could procrastinate no longer…everything was packed and the rain clouds were threatening again…we had coffee and breakfast…i would have made more coffee but we were out of water!!!! so we loaded the bikes and said our goodbyes….patrick and sherri headed east toward turkey..i rode west to the unknow macedonia….it was scary to be on my own but some how it was also very liberating…..

Unser heutiges Nachtlager ist an einer Passtrasse bei Gotse Delchev. Ein würdiger Platz um Edds Abschied zu feiern. Morgen wird er uns verlassen um Mazedonien zu journizen. Wir stellen fest, dass niemand etwas über Mazedonien weiß. Ein weißer Fleck auf der Landkarte. Wir wollen hoffen, dass Edd etwas Licht ins Dunkel bringt und uns über Mazedonien berichten wird.
