Today is the day Joscha left us. It was also suppose to be our internet day and Sofia city day. Alas few things work out. After being promised a garage in the price for the apartment, we are told that is only outside working hours. We now have to move our bikes until 7 pm that night. We expressed our displeasure at the seeing off of Joscha, who was to continue on to meet his parents. Joscha´s parting words to us were `go tell him that you are unhappy`.
5 minutes later Ed comes back to say we have been kicked out as we are more trouble than we are worth. (dude really wanted a parking space for his Fox).
And so there goes internet. And in a way, as always, it worked out for the better. Sofia is not the best Bulgaria has to offer. In fact city center was really disappointing. And after finding the dirtiest hovel for 10 Euros each a night (the bug at the monastery would think twice about hanging out there) we headed south.
The best decision of our lives. Southern Bulgaria has turned out to be the most amazing scenery and biking on the trip so far.
And Ed to the rescue! He got us a hotel with wi fi and parking for less than crazy angry `get out of my apartment you stinky bikers` dude offered!

headed south after we shopped in sophia…not as romantic as it sounds….i was looking for a cheap way to clock my kms…ie.a bike odometer…and a new dc lighter socket so i could charge my batteries…patrick was looking for brackets and chain oil…how exciting, right…what did you expect from three people surviving on bikes…the latest fashion wear?....please!!!!
it did take too long before we realized that our goal was too far….we hit some more rain but overall it started to dry out….we came to the last town before our exit…a place called dupnitza….there was only one hotel in town and when i asked what the cost was the reply was 69euro!!!!!...way above buget and really not realist….the receptionist was really cool…the look on my face was all she needed for the reworking of the price down to 54….then 45…then 39…finally, with her shaking her head, i named my price of 30 euro….she came back with 33 and i said lets see the room!!!!it was a shit hole but what could i do….the price was right and there was no where to go…..then she got her revenge when i asked about parking….2 euro per bike!!!!she got me there….!!!it was money well spent..we got our clothes hung up to dry and the beds were decent….nice pizza joint….

so the room was supposed to have a wireless connection….and it did…but patricks computer would not access it for some reason….very frustrating…..in the morning after we packed to go…we sat in the lobby to have coffee and low and behold a super fast connection….well we stayed around to have a couple of coffees!!!!

Joscha verlässt uns

Joscha hat uns heute morgen verlassen. Er ist zum Schwarzen Meer gefahren, dort wird er seine Eltern treffen. Edd und werden noch die nächsten Tage zusammen unterwegs sein bevor wir nach Osten abbiegen und er weiter nach Mazedonien fährt.
Wir sind nun deutlich langsamer unterwegs. Es gibt keine Termine mehr, wir fahren jeden Tag nur soweit wir wollen. Wir sind nun endlich in der Reise angekommen.
