800 Km day

So we woke up safe from the activities of aroused deer during the night. The threat of rain was very real from the sky, and we decided to try for Patrick´s parents house on the Swiss side of Lake Konstance. We didnt know if we could make it, but we knew we were sick of riding in the rain and waking up to rain.
And so began our longest day of riding of the entire trip, fuelled strictly by a desire to crawl into a sauna and stay there indefinitely, or at least until the feelings returned to our toes and fingers. Never will I mock grip heating as a luxury for the old and the weak again.
We rode through Austria without stopping for food (we ate at 11 in Ljubljana) as we figured that we would stop only once it got dark, thus maximizing riding time in the daylight. After going over a mountain road however I thought I would literally fall off the bike in one blue chunk, and so we stopped for coffee while I waited in vain for my core body temperature to return.
That was taken BEFORE I lost all feeling only to have it return as pure pain. ;)
But at 12 at night, we rolled into Utwill, only to find the door locked and no one answering the bell.
But, some heavy banging later a sleepy Jannick answered the door. ;)
