Off Roading Disaters, Water Bottle Goodness And Other Stories From a Bazar

04. August 2008 | en

Tire turned out to be a very pleasant accident. Although I have attempted some off road, I just do not feel comfortable doing so. And so we thought what better way to GET comfortable than to check into a hotel (to get clean afterwards, we were kindve stinky to begin with, we did not want to contemplate the consequences of adding off road practice in the sun.) After all, even when we checked in the clerk refused to ride back down the elevator with Patrick. (You want to take 3 months off without work, you camp wild as much as possible). :P

But first we had to get me water bottle holders. I havent taken a picture yet but I will. But long story short, the police ended up helping us out in my quest not to be thirsty on the road, and turned out to be excellent tour guides as well.

Enough foreshadowing, lets begin before I lose you before I even start!

Pretty picture to keep you reading (taken before the practice and before the ehrm, discussion):

Day 50: Attempt At Off Road Practice

So we check into our hotel, and decide that to ride in 45 degrees heat would be madness. Even for us. And so instead we find a tailor to make my water bottle holders.

He sent us to a couch guy.

Who then sent us to a motorcycle repair shop.

And while there we were overheard by 2 police officers who then swooped in and told us to follow them on THEIR motorcycle to the guy who does auto interiors. They then arranged for ayrans and water for us, and sat back with me to pour over the map to let us know where to go (Mt. Arat they told us NOT to go to) and then they fought over the fact that I was too young to be a teacher (dude thought I was 17, and I was worried that biking was making me look old. heh heh Although I doubt 17 was what he meant, but I will take early 20s) ;) .

We then headed off to the mountain tops.

So pretty, there are worse places to dump a body for sure.

Lets put it this way, Sherrie + Patrick + off road attempt on a gravel hill does not work out the way one would think. Unless your an ex boyfriend, and then you knew the result of this as soon as you read ``Patrick tried to teach me…....``

We are friends again now though. And believe it or not my off roading skills have improved, I even drove myself in and most of the way out, of our camp spot the other day.

And finally, but not least, we went to the Tire Bazaar, which we ended up thanks to our tour guide police friends. Apparently our timing was perfect. Tourists were bused in as far away as Izmir for this once a week event, and here we just showed up by accident.
