I spent my V day away from my partner. But since we have never actually been on the same continent for the occasion I figure I get points just for being a mere hour plane ride away! Besides I was in Croatia, and I get to see Patrick every day. :-P

When we woke up this morning (and my I say I LOVE the hostel we stayed in. It is called Nocturno, and is warm, cute, and small! All rooms are the same price per bed, about 17 Euros, AND they have only 2 or 3 beds per roon. See Madrid hostel rant for reason why I loved this) myself and the friend I traveled here with had plans to take a small day trip to the next town which is said to be cute and worth the 30 minute jaunt. However when our plans to have morning coffee in a smoke free environment evaporated after a hunt that lasted over an hour, we both began to wear on each others nerves, and the day trip was called off. As the day wore on and the nerve grinding did not end, we parted ways for a couple of hours to do things on our own in the name of keeping our friendship.

And that is how I ended up spending Valentines day with John Rambo. While more romantic people have dinner together, eat chocolate, go see sappy movies, even take each other on Caribbean cruises, I went to a movie theater in Zagreb and requested “one for John Rambo please” (which was followed by “do you want a normal seat, or a love seat? ohhhhh is that one ticket or two?”) – which turned out to be the bloodiest, goriest Rambo movie ever (you actually see bits of intestine flying through the air). I actually liked it though. And in this case its one of those movies my partner would never go see with me, so what better way to spend V day.
