Not Lake Baikhal!

Despite telling Patrick every time he said lake Baikal that this place is not Lake Baikal, I kept trying to call it Lake Baikal as well. But this very pretty lake is well worth it as a tourist destination, I just don’t know if I would then stay in the area given the fact it is so pretty that – as in every pretty place – it has to be turned into a plastic tourist haven . Not that I am not a tourist, and I always hate it when tourists complain of something being too touristy, but there is something to be said about nature conservation. I like to think that though I carve a chunk out of the environment just by traveling, everything I do to save enough
money to make that travel possible (like book swapping or going to the library, rescuing friends old furniture rather than buying new stuff, and just not buying new clothes every month) evens the whole thing out.
Either way, we found a pretty corner for our stop. Which was well needed as I was getting hungry, and for the first time the thrill of riding the bike was starting to become overwhelmed by the effort that goes into the actual riding of the bike.
