Bergsee

You know what it is like to perpetually smell like burnt gasoline, or dirt under your fingernails from tires that refuse to keep their proper shape and pressure. Flies in your face, either too hot or too cold, but you refuse to submit to that fate of

Time To Relax Or Sherrie Fails To Hear The Boars....Or The Guns

06. August 2008 | en

For the first time on this trip we left our tent up two days in a row. We never would have come to this place except that our police officer friends who moonlight as travel advisers for Turkey told us about the spot, and it was fantastic! Beautiful blue lake, amazing mountain roads, and a field with boars. But no worries our farmer friends told us, the boars do not like the fence. the fence shocks them and they fall over dead (this was not said in words so much as acted out with fingers for tusks and belly up motions). Only we were not to touch the fence, that would be very very bad.

That is because unlike the regular electric fences that just give you a jolt, these farmers had rigged up the fence direct to the power line. 220 volts for any hairy bastard that tried to dig up their potatoes.

And our last night there not only did I NOT hear them grunting outside the fence, (Patrick went out to check it out while I slept), I also failed to hear the gun shots as the farmers started shooting them.

Glad I am not a wild pig.
