Berge!

18. July 2008 | de

Was habe ich nochmal geschrieben?

You know what it is like to perpetually smell like burnt gasoline, or dirt under your fingernails from tires that refuse to keep their proper shape and pressure. Flies in your face, either too hot or too cold, but you refuse to submit to that fate of

F$%K !!!!!!!!!!!! Or Death By Transport Truck AKA Mother DO Not read This One!

18. July 2008 | en

So today was the day we were SUPPOSE to meet Joscha and Ed. Please note the use of the word suppose. Because we didn’t. In fact, we are lucky we made it out alive. I forgot about our love hate relationship with Romania. We love it because it is beautiful, and has some of the most amazing biking and people. We hate it because it also the only country I have never felt safe wild camping in, and also because the roads are either amazing, or TOTAL shit. And it can take 5 hours to go 50 kms even on a straight road. Why? because it is over run with transport trucks. AND you have two choices. Sit behind them for an hour per kilometer, breathing in the fumes – Or drive the middle of the road between the parked ones and the oncoming ones, praying your not hit, and get about 10 kms per hour.

We of course choose the potentially squished route over the assured deportation when I threw Betty at a truck before screaming and dropkicking my way though Romania.

In the process I lost my small bag, and our grill and 2 of my books met death by transport truck. Or at least alerted for life. Both are still usable, but neither are pretty.

Our camping at least was amazing, when a sheep farmer let us sleep on the mountain top with the sheep.

I am not kidding when I say after a couple of days I REALLY smell. :P

But my first attempt at off roading went fantastic! If only all my attempts are to go so well.
