We are in Stuttgart!
We want to sleep as thanks to Air Canada we have been awake and traveling for almost 48 hours, but its only 12 pm here and Sherrie has declared sleep is for the weak, and not for the McCarthy clan. Plus she wants Starbucks.
The apartment is smaller than we expected, but not quite the bio hazzard we had been led to expect.
We’ve seen a fountain, and spatzele with Oma, let the German vacation begin! Tomorrow we are off to the Black Forest, and so begins the quest for our cuckoo clock!

Sean McCarthy has always been something of a legend among those who know him. To the point where he once entered the local convince store and a small child walked up to him and asked to shake the hand of the strongest man in Mt. Pearl. Apparently he was in Michael’s (the youngest of the three kids) class. Sherrie’s friends generally accepted it sucked to be her boyfriend, especailly after one was literally drop kicked after an attempt to bond. However perhaps the best evidence of Sean McCarthy’s far reaching legend is the following, stolen directly off Sherrie’s Gypsy Princess blog, and it produced in Samara the following reaction:
Why was she so happy you ask? Because her partner was out of town for the weekend and returning that night, and dad had just agreed to lounge in his underwear and Toby’s housecoat, sprawled over their new new coach, and to demand what Toby was doing in his apartment.
One small glitch happened, Toby came home early, and so dad tried to whip his clothes off quickly to just surprise him in general.
How did Toby react to this half naked strange man?
“Who are you?” instantly followed by “Why are you naked?” and instantly followed by “AAAAAAAAHHHHHH you must be Sherries dad.”
This is the insanity that happens when enough beers the size of your face are drank, to the point where even your mother challenges you and the “yank” to a beer contest.
For the record I lost, since becoming an old woman I just cant drink anymore. :-P (Old happened at 27 apparently!)

The night held more than just Sean streaking half naked in strangers apartments at the requests of their girlfriends. (If you did not read the previous post carefully, do go back and do so!).
It also meant we felt we could defy death, and this was just with the promise of beer!
This contraption had strange little green alien men taunting you onto the “Shocker,” Sherrie had no sooner declared only an idiot would get on any ride advertised by green men who were obviously on crack when Linda had plunked down the required change.
Do not let anyone tell you a mother is gentle and full of love. The woman bear wrestled Sherrie into the seat, who then proceeded to whimper and cry that she wanted to get off, and this before the “ride” shot into the air over Stuttgart and proceeded to shake them, roll them, and drop them, for the longest 5 minutes known to man.
Look closely, see the evil little Satan man:
After getting off, AND not knowing pictures were being taken:
Toasting that their women may never come back:
Samara insisting that she is not cheating on the drinking:
(yes she out drank everyone at the table except one)

Which is actually a very common immigration path. Gegen Die Wand. Watch it!
Anyway yes I have been AWOL on the posting. For those of you who once again are panicked by my lack of email, you should be. What you have missed:
1. I went to a job interview with a friend. The job was offered to me. Same pay as I was getting being a governess only this time I would be a “friend” to a wife. Teach her English through going to the gym and shopping, as well as organized classes. The pros: Athens and Dubai were both tossed in there as “regular trips we must take and I would have to go along.” The cons: While she was awake I was not to look at my watch or leave her sight. We were to be a big happy family and computer time or TV time alone in my room is not acceptable.
Hmmmmmmm.
So I was a BFF for hire. Only I couldn’t complain or escape and Id have to put up with temper tantrums until my time as the BFF was over. Which depending on how well I pampered our princess could be 3 months or a year.
I basically decided that if I was to be a prostitute I would at least be a call girl (because sadly even your status as a prostitute is often determined by your education) and only have to give my time on hire a couple of nights a week and get really nice gifts I could sell on ebay. Plus I think sex for sale is actually less soul sucking than slave labour. At least sex for sale you can determine your own hours.
2. Ive moved to Germany. As in Ive unpacked my stuff, I have claimed a space in the closet as well as some bookshelves, and I will even register for a proper German class tomorrow. So this will be until I run out of cash or until I complete the paper work for the under 35 youth visa and find myself a job. The plan to return to Newfoundland this summer is still in effect however. And of course get my ass to see my dropkick prodigy as well. ;)

My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to have an uneventful, incident free day in Germany. So far, I have failed. Case in point: day one, my arrival. We land. Uneventful. Until, crash! Boom! Bang! Thunder and lightening litterally light up the tarmack as we arrive. We ain’t getting off this plane. 45 minutes go by, they let us off. Walking off the plane I am greeted with the sniffer german sheppard dog who is playing with a toy so he doesn’t eat the passengers. Welcome to Germany. They keep our luggage hostage. Thereby keeping us hostage. Patrick, poor boy, thinks I have arrived. Technically I have. But I am stuck between the passport people and the customs people as I am going no where until the luggage can go with me. One hour goes by. Two hours goes by. Three hours go by. Still. No. Luggage. Full stop. Patrick is still waiting. Sherrie is cooking supper and laughing which is all I can do at this point. But then, hope. They let Patrick in. They let me out. No luggage tho. But Sherrie provied me with beer. food. pj’s, toothbrush, and a bed. How could I ask for more.
Day two: I get up. But on some of Sherrie’s clothes and head to the airport. SUCCCESS!! THe luggage awaits. I give that to Patick, he puts it in his car and puts me on a train to meet Sherrie. So far, uneventful. I find Starbucks, Sherrie finds me. We go to get pastry at her favorite place and its closed. It has never been closed. But upon arrival it closes for renovations. So we go get a map for me. Upon hugging Sherrie my earrings falls out. Can’t be found. We leave dejected. Germany hates me. But wait! The lady at the map place runs after us. Success! She has found my earring and chased me to give it back. Germany loves me. On to the pasty. yummy. We head back to the s-bahn with water in tow. We sit and wait for our respective trains. Train comes. I get on one, Sherrie gets on the other. I end up in bfn Germany, Sherrie ends up in Ludswigberg. Whoops. We got on the other’s train. Better still, I have Sherrie “gasy” water and she has my “zero gas water.” Damn it all to hell. Germany hates me. I make a random friend in bfn while I wait 45 minutes for the next train to arrive. 2.5 hours later, I arrive at my destination all to see a freaking palace, that was closed to tours. But I wandered around, saw my palace, not to mistaken for a castle and made my way back to Sherrie’s successfully and uneventfully. Other than my french who I shared some delicious chocolate with. Germany loves me.

To logbook | Author: PennellThe Dreams Keep Coming
08. December 2006 | en
So the dreams are slowing down. It’s been 3 weeks since I left them. And still they haunt me. The first week was every night. The second was every 2nd or 3rd. This week I thought I was free.
And then.
NIGHTMARE about the family I was living with in Turkey. SHUDDER. Mostly its the mom chasing me, or one of those dreams where your real life gets confused with your dream. So in the dream I’m in Turkey and I become upset I was dreaming I was back in Germany, OR I realize in the dream that I AM living in Germany, and then I think GWAAA So and SO is going to boil me alive for not being here in Turkey (where in the dream of course I am).
Confusing?
Good it is to me too. :P
I think its because the agency messaged me asking when I was coming back. And admittedly the thought crept in. Its good money, its Istanbul, and its my motorcycle with no effort in finding a job. They merely require your soul. So upon deeper reflection I’m only too happy to stay here in Germany. And when the cash runs out there’s still Canada and the homeland. John should be finishing up there about now to return to do his Masters, which means according to the divorce settlement Japan is free for me! (For those of you don’t know John got Japan in the divorce, I get holidays and every second Christmas. It has something to do with never wanting to be on the same continent as me again).

To logbook | Author: GypsyprincessJohn Responds To The Custody Battle
10. December 2006 | en
An email I just received:
Ms. Sherrie-san
According to the japanese prenuptuial (August 2003) it is stated that ‘Ms. Sherrie-san’s custodial rights over Nippon are contingent on 2 factors.
1.
that Mr jon-san has left Japan indefinitely.
2. That Mrs. Sherrie-san’s alimony payments are up to date and sufficient in the ‘maintenance’ of Mr jon-san’s sushi needs. ‘
Regarding the first point, Mr. JOn-san contends that he has not yet left Nippon ‘to do his masters’ nor does he intend to do so any time soon. His current employment contract has been extended until the end of July 2007.
After said employment is terminated Mr Jon-san may be entering a farming co-op in the production of tofu, natto and soy milk. (He has stated for the record that if such a situation should arise he would be willing to conced
to you full visitation rights as he will be living in a remote and little known village in the northern area of honshuu thusly negating any uncomfortable situations. however, he has added that the 50 m restraining order should be kpt in place for his own personal safety.)
Further, Mr. jon-san has stated that the agreed upon alimony payments are in arrears. He would like to add that while he is not exactly demanding payment he could be appeased for several months, if not years, by the receipt of a bar of german chocorettooo. ƒ`ƒ‡ƒRƒŒƒbƒg!I‚¨‚¢‚µ‚¢B you understand that those oishii square bars of german chocolate (ugh, mr luedee is making a scene at the present moment in the internet cafe just thinking about the one
with the peanuts…) are an import here in the land of the rising sun and the price of said bars is far too exorbitant for mr jon-san’s meagre ESL salary.
should this latter request be met I am so very happy to note that my client mr. jon-san will negate the statutes of the presiding prenuptuial agreement and will concede full visitation rights to ms sherrie-san, nee., Ms five
feet of anger-san wait, shouldn’t that be the maiden name..
whatever,
merry christmas

My last day in Germany. And it’s not even a full day. More like a morning. This sucks. I had such a great time with Sherrie. There is a reason we’ve been friends since we were 5-6 years old. She is awesome. And I miss her.
This day started out normal. Sherrie cooked breakfast (I know, it still confounds me when I say Sherrie cooked insert food here.) You don’t understand, this girl did not cook. This is the girl who sat on her kitchen floor and SCREAMED and BAWLED and threw an absolute TANTRUM because her dad was going to make her do the dishes…at 13 years old… But anyways. breakfast was yummy and then Patrick drove us to our train stop for me to begin my trip back to London. Sherrie had to work and with the timing, we couldn’t risk waiting for her to get off work to go with me to the airport, good chance I would miss the deadline for security. So I had to say good bye to Sherrie at the train station. It sucked. I miss her and did not want to leave.
BUT, there has to be some sort of story on this morning. So I say good bye to Sherrie and she goes to work and I go to Espirit cause there is a shirt I want. It’s 9 am, most stores are open. So I walk up to the store, prolly 10-15 mins, lugging my luggage behind me only to get there and the darn thing doesn’t open till 10. ARG. Germany hates me again. Just when I was starting to warm up to the place. And the pastry place that was closed when I arrived, Sherrie’s favorite pastry place in the world? yeah, not closed for renos, closed FOREVER. whoops.
Time to get on the plane and head back to London. Stay tuned!
