Memories

ANYWAY

so 3 years ago would find me in Japan with Mr. Luedee. And the opportunity arose for us to go to the Snow Festival in Hokkaido and spend a day skiing/snowboarding. I have skied in the past, but the chance to learn to snowboard seemed too cool to pass up. John must’ve been delusional from the excitement of the prospect of hitting the hills of Hokkaido and agreed to teach me how to snowboard. Roll forward to when we actually get there.

John realizes that a beginner snowboarder will in all likelihood cramp his style. All his visions of a day on the hills are crushed after I strap on my board and proceed to face plank before I’ve even tried to move. I giggle. John forms a plan. After a quick how to we go up the bunny hill and come back down. I don’t die. Neither do I maim others. So John puts his plan into action.

John: You know the regular hills are no different than the bunny hill. Lets go.

Sherrie: errrrr are you sure? (in head: then why are there bunny hills?)

John: (slightly agitated) Yes Im sure. Lets go.

5 minutes later Sherrie is cruising successfully down before crashing into a snow drift and drowning.

John: (screaming as he wizzes past) I’m going too fast to help you. Ill get you when I come back up.

By the time he gets me Ive managed to wiggle myself in so deep in my escape attempts that he passes me the second time around by accident and its a third before I’m pulled out.

Surprisingly the rest of the day went very well. However like the challenged person I am I digressed as the day went on. At 1 I was looking like someone who had done this at least a couple of times before. By 3:30 every time I stood up I fell back down and by 4 I was sitting in the middle of a big hill crying that I hated Japan, snowboarding, and in particular Mr. Luedee. When some JET we met on the bus stopped to comment “uh oh tears already” and I lunged forward in my best effort to bite his fingers off John decided to call it quits for the day.
Good times for the weekend!!!

I Think It Was June

My memory is a bit sketchy. ;-) Either way I was on a mission. To meet Godzilla desu!!!

Every few months the major airlines in Japan have ichi maan sales. No not an icthy man, but rather a flight anywhere in Japan for an ichi man, or about 100 dollars. (at least at the time it was worth about that much). Living in a rice field meant we had a craving for city life, and who doesn’t love Tokyo. So we booked our flights, Tokyo and then Okinawa it was. Hurray! Godzilla here I come!

Frantically trying to locate him according to Lonely Planet:

The problem was we WERE where Godzilla should be, and yet we kept missing him. Had he gone off on a rampage to terrorize the sewer rats?

Because as it turned out, that would be about all everyone’s favorite giant lizard would be terrorizing.

So impressive

and yet

something was missing:

like size:

Next time I will read the guide closer to discover that missing him is common due to the belief that a monster that stomps buildings should be able to umm, well, step on them?

That of course did not stop me from going into Godzilla mode the rest of the holiday, including spontaneous outbreaks in stores:

Even if my dragon drink was scarier, or for that matter the bubbly shrimp concoction we had in Okinawa.

John Responds To The Custody Battle

An email I just received:

Ms. Sherrie-san

According to the japanese prenuptuial (August 2003) it is stated that ‘Ms. Sherrie-san’s custodial rights over Nippon are contingent on 2 factors.

that Mr jon-san has left Japan indefinitely.

2. That Mrs. Sherrie-san’s alimony payments are up to date and sufficient in the ‘maintenance’ of Mr jon-san’s sushi needs. ‘

Regarding the first point, Mr. JOn-san contends that he has not yet left Nippon ‘to do his masters’ nor does he intend to do so any time soon. His current employment contract has been extended until the end of July 2007.

After said employment is terminated Mr Jon-san may be entering a farming co-op in the production of tofu, natto and soy milk. (He has stated for the record that if such a situation should arise he would be willing to conced
to you full visitation rights as he will be living in a remote and little known village in the northern area of honshuu thusly negating any uncomfortable situations. however, he has added that the 50 m restraining order should be kpt in place for his own personal safety.)

Further, Mr. jon-san has stated that the agreed upon alimony payments are in arrears. He would like to add that while he is not exactly demanding payment he could be appeased for several months, if not years, by the receipt of a bar of german chocorettooo. ƒ`ƒ‡ƒRƒŒƒbƒg!I‚¨‚¢‚µ‚¢B you understand that those oishii square bars of german chocolate (ugh, mr luedee is making a scene at the present moment in the internet cafe just thinking about the one
with the peanuts…) are an import here in the land of the rising sun and the price of said bars is far too exorbitant for mr jon-san’s meagre ESL salary.

should this latter request be met I am so very happy to note that my client mr. jon-san will negate the statutes of the presiding prenuptuial agreement and will concede full visitation rights to ms sherrie-san, nee., Ms five
feet of anger-san wait, shouldn’t that be the maiden name..

Kurz und fast schmerzlos

Ich bin endlich angekommen! Zumindest in Japan. :P Es war eine der duemmsten Ideen meines Lebens eine Reisetasche zu kaufen, die keine Rollen hat und diese bis zum Maximum vollstopfen zu lassen (danke Laura ;) ).
Meine Haende sind entsprechend gezeichnet, denn ich musste ja erstmal mit dem Bus bis zum International zum Domestic Terminal gefahren, dann vom Flughafen zum Hakata-Bahnhof und von da aus mit dem Bus bis zum Oita-Bahnhof. Verlief Kami sei Dank alles planmaessig und Anett hat an der Bushaltestelle auf mich gewartet. :) Zusammen mit der kleinen Anne. Die ist schon richtig gross und aufgeweckt und brabbelt und spricht teilweise schon sehr gut.

Schlafen und dann...

Ich habe sehr gut geschlafen, hätte auch noch länger sein können, aber ich möchte ja mit Anett und Anne zusammen frühstücken. ;)))
Anett hatte heute eine Deutschstunde zu halten, also sind wir in die Stadt gefahren. Während Anetts Stunde sind Rin-chan und ich bei Anetts Chefin untergekommen. :) Sie hat Katzen, was Anne einfach toll findet. Allerdings haben die heute geschlafen, also hat sie fröhlich abgewaschen, die Blumen mit dem Schlauch gegossen und zu Anpanman (japanische Kindersendung) gesungen. hehehe
Und zwischenzeitlich Limonade, Schokolade und einen Keks gegessen. lol
Danach waren wir noch in einem netten Kaffee, mit sehr netten alten Omis und Opis. :)) Eis essen!! Hinterher Shopping! Kinderklamotten und Abendessen! Kawaii (süß)!
Alles sehr schön, alles sehr lecker. :))

Ein kleiner Unfall

Heute hatten wir eine schöne Tagesplanung. Zu Yuriko, einer Freundin von Anett (meine Freundin), die einen buddhistischen Laden (Altare, etc.) hat, dann Sushi essen und auf dem Rückweg zum Spielplatz und einkaufen. Das war der aufgestellte Plan. :P
Heraus kam, mit einer schon (wieder) müden Anne zur Bushaltestelle laufen, den Bus bis nach Tsurusaki (nächster Stadtteil) nehmen und Yuriko besuchen. Bis dahin hat es ganz gut geklappt. hehe
Dann wollten wir Sushi essen gehen und zu diesem Zweck haben wir eine Straße überquert. Mitten auf der Straße blieb Anne aber stehen und schaute sich etwas auf dem Boden an. Da es gleich wieder rot werden würde, wollte ich sie hochnehmen, um schnell die Straße zu überqueren. Tja, das habe ich auch gemacht, allerdings ist das nächste, was ich wahrgenommen habe, der immer näher kommende Boden und wir lagen auf der Straße… . Wie das passiert ist, keine Ahnung. Entweder bin ich über etwas gestolpert oder in der Hast über meine eigenen Füße gestolpert. XD” Auf jeden Fall fiel die Kleine ziemlich unsanft mit dem Kopf auf den Asphalt. Großes Geschrei. Naja, als ich dann wieder aufgestanden war, habe ich dann auch meine Schmerzen wahrgenommen. Blutender Ellenbogen, blutende Hand, aufgerissene Hose, schmerzendes Knie… . Tja, also zu Yuriko zurück und verarzten lassen. Da fiel mir dann auch auf, dass das Knie was nicht wehtat, trotzdem ziemlich stark blutete. Ähem. Das andere Knie war nur blau, tat aber wesentlich mehr weh.
Den Plan mit dem Sushi setzten wir noch in die Tat um, den Rest haben wir aber gestrichen, due to Schmerzen und müder Rin-chan. Jetzt sitzen wir zu Hause, haben Rin-chan bei der Oma von nebenan abgeladen und ruhen uns ein wenig aus… . Ich hoffe, dass sich nichts entzündet oder ich noch mehr Narben am Knie kriege. Ich wollte eigentlich mit denen aus dem Kindergarten Schluss machen. :P
Das war mein Tag bis jetzt.

Besuch im Krankenhaus und Einkaufen

Gestern morgen war dann auch Yuusuke (Rin-chans Papa) wieder da. Im Moment arbeitet er in Kumamoto, das ist etwa zwei Stunden von hier entfernt, und kommt leider nur am Wochenende nach Hause.
Anett hatte um 9Uhr einen Termin in ihrem Krankenhaus, sodass wir Anne in der Obhut von Papa zurückgelassen haben. :) Ich wollte doch auch die Klinik mal sehen. :))
Jetzt habe ich auch das erste Mal so ein Ultraschall-Bild gesehen. Man konnte es mittelmäßig gut erkennen. Der Kleine hat einen kleinen Kopf, dafür aber sehr lange Beine und er wird wohl etwas schwerer als Rin-chan, die bei ihrer Geburt ja nur 2050g gewogen hat.
Bevor wir drankamen, hat Anett mir die Zimmer gezeigt, wo man fünf Tage lang nach der Geburt versorgt wird, bevor man nach Hause entlassen wird.
Zufälligerweise hat Anett einen Namen auf einer der Türen entdeckt, den sie kannte. :) Und tatsächlich, es war ihre Freundin aus dem Yoga-Kurs, die am Montag entbunden hatte. Sagt hallo zu Kazumi-chan!!!
Als wir wieder zurück waren, konnten wir Yuusuke auch endlich dazu überreden aufzustehen. XD Zusammen sind wir dann zu einem großen Einkaufszentrum gefahren, das Parkplace heißt. Dort gibt es auf der Dachterasse einen Wasserspielplatz, zu dem wir mit Anne gehen wollten. Allerdings hat es elendig geregnet, sodass das leider ausfallen musste. Wir haben aber superleckeres Eis gegessen!! hihi Alles in allem ein sehr schöner Tag.
Gestern Abend haben Anett und ich dann noch Namen fürs Baby gewälzt. Mal schauen mal schauen, der Kleine lässt sich ja Zeit. Allerdings möchte Anett, dass er so schnell wie möglich geboren wird, da er sie ständig tritt und das wirklich weh tut. Außerdem verkrampft ihr Bauch ständig, ja, das tut auch weh. Deswegen ist sie froh, wenn sie dann endlich wieder normal laufen kann, etc.
