so this was a while back and so much has taken place.
this was a great spot for camping, we were approaching the national forest of sutjeska…such amazing countryside, the mountainous terrain getting wilder by the KM, as usual we were running out of day light, we had taken a wrong turn earlier and ended up at the montenegrian border, the opposite direction of our intended destination…..anyway, the river valley looked inviting andf there was a restaurant in which we could ask whether or not camping would be ok….moge, moge,.....was teh response, which we found out later means ok, of course,.....off to the river we went and found a nice quiet spot by the river…..while joscha went looking for some cigarettes i started set up the tent and as i got started i could hear an approaching engine, soon there was a tractor loaded with wood laboring down the hillside with four men sittng astride their bounty….i watched as they pullled right up to ‘my’ spot and started to throw their logs into the existing pile….now of course i had waved when they came into view…and i was waiting to see what they would do when they finished work….at the end the driver came over and shook my hand and offered me some red liquid….i took a small sip and he looked at me dubiously, grab the bottle and took a long gulp, and handed the bottle back….so…..the honor was established and teh bottle was passed, then the gang loaded back into their contraption and headed back to work, leaving me the bottle!!!! they came and went til well passed dark, josh and i had cooked dinner and were ready to eat before they loaded all the wood on a larger truck and headed out for the night!!!!!
we woke the next morning to rain showers our first rain day….at least the first time we had no choice but to pack in the rain…...we got underway and headed into the park, magestic, .......so every adventure is just that…. and when things are going as planned it is wonderful but not so adventurous, well life certainly got exciting today…..the roads were wet, but the sun was starting to show promise and the clouds hanging on the peaks was breath taking, not quite as breath taking as having your bike slide out from under you…...ah yes my first moving fall, my bike has been on its side alot, but always because i lose balance with the weight, today was abit different, i was a bit to fast and when i took the curve the bike was down and i’m watching things in slow motion as both it and i are travellling down the road, the bike on its side and me on my ass, in reality, it was a bit like falling while skiing, i kept my feet in front of me and waited to stop moving!!!!! so mom you don’t need to worry, i was totally fine, certainly shaken, but the clothing didn’t even show the slide!!!!!! now the bike needed a bit of love…. we replaced the front brake lever and greased up the throttle and started on our way…...amazing what that kind of experience will do to your confidence….destroyed, i rode way slow…..two days later i was back to feeling good….
