making friends

we had a reason to go to gorazde….a war ravaged city, holy jeez. i wish i knew better the history of the balkan war….so sad what these people lived thru and still suffer today….josh and i met with a fund raising group in berlin before starting our journey, an internet start up called betterplace, yes this is a plug….check it out….so we were meeting a woman in gorazde named gabriella who manages SEKA, the aonly mental heath iniative for women and children who are still dealing with the affects of the war(gorazde, was under siege for 4 years, completely cut off from the world) so our effort was to meet with the veterans group and initiate their own betterplace fund raising, the meeting was very uplifting and hopefully we got things moving in the right direction, you’ll hear more about this as things progress with their application and perhaps other projects as well…. so we were befriended by one of the veterans who gave us a place to stay for the night, Morat went out of his way to give us an impresion of his home and life even though we weren’t able to understand each others languages, we walked thru town had dinner and coffees then we went tback to his place and met with two guys who had brought tools to make adjustments to our chains…..his understanding of our needs was awesome, hopefully our understanding of his will translate into what he needs….so adnan and adko, help adjust our chains and then they broke out the beer and we sat and drank and talked about american movies(my strong suit)......nice!!!!!
the next morning we met with a few aof morat’s friends and drank cooffee, until, if you can believe it i was getting sick of coffeee!!!! our last calll was to see adnan and adko who gave us a wrench to make chain adjustments( ours was shit) and we wave good bye and headed to montenegro!!!
our destination was a national park called durmitor, the highest mountains of our trip yet!!!!!

bosnia is really pretty…..the drina river valley is stunning riding….deep canyons and fast water…nice curves and tunnels…rode until late evening…going thru sarajevo and over some nice passes where the air cooled slightly….i arrived in kljuc around 7pm and saw an internet cafe so i stopped an did some typing and talked to the local youth about where i could camp….i had seen a place just before town and the guys told me that it was a good place to stay…they were right…there was even a little bar that i had a beer at before calling it a night….
